Opportunity

Pet owners care deeply about their animals but keeping on top of health records, vaccination schedules, vet visits, medications, and daily care routines is genuinely hard — especially across multiple pets. Most people rely on memory, scattered notes, or paper files that are nowhere to be found in an emergency. NotePet was built to fix that. We designed and built it from scratch as our own product — a comprehensive pet health and care tracker for iOS and Android that keeps everything in one place, always accessible, always up to date.

Approach

We built NotePet as a two-person team with full ownership over product, design, and engineering. Flutter gave us a single codebase across iOS and Android without compromising on the native feel, and Firebase handled the backend — authentication, data storage, and the notification infrastructure that powers the reminder system. The product was designed around one core promise: nothing falls through the cracks.

Solution

1. Pet Health Records Complete digital records for each pet — vet visits, medical history, prescriptions, microchip details, insurance documents, vaccination records, and symptom logs. Accessible anywhere, including during emergencies or boarding. 2. Vaccination & Medication Tracking Scheduled reminders for vaccinations, boosters, heartworm treatments, flea prevention, and medications — tailored to each pet's individual care calendar. 3. Daily Care Reminders Feeding reminders across the day — morning, afternoon, and evening — keeping daily routines consistent for every pet in the household. 4. Weight & Growth Tracking Weight logs and growth charts over time, with visual trend tracking to help owners spot health changes early. 5. Expense Tracking Vet bills, food, grooming, and medication costs tracked and summarised — giving owners a clear picture of what pet care actually costs each month. 6. PDF Export A one-tap export that generates a clean, shareable pet health report — ready for new vets, travel documentation, pet sitters, or boarding facilities. 7. Moments & Pet Journal Photo gallery and life timeline for each pet — because pet care is about more than health data. 8. Multi-Pet Support Separate profiles for each pet managed independently — dogs, cats, or any other animal, all in one place.

Technical Highlights

1. Firebase-Powered Reminder System Daily care reminders — morning, afternoon, and evening feeding schedules alongside medication and vaccination alerts — are built on Firebase Cloud Messaging and scheduled notification infrastructure, delivering reliable reminders tailored to each pet's individual routine. 2. Multi-Pet Profile Architecture Each pet has a fully independent profile with its own health records, schedules, weight history, and expense log — all managed within a single user account and data model. 3. Vet-Ready PDF Generation A one-tap PDF export generates a complete, professionally formatted pet health report from stored records — shareable instantly with vets, pet sitters, or boarding facilities.

Impact

NotePet is live on the App Store and Google Play, actively maintained with regular updates. It demonstrates our ability to take a consumer health product from idea to production — making deliberate decisions about what genuinely helps pet owners rather than building features for the sake of it.
